It's Been Awhile

OMG, I can't believe I've been away from here for so long......hence one of the reasons I've really been "off track." Again, I feel like I've really let myself slip the past month or so, into some old habits......So here I am, and I'm going to lay it all out of the table and see it in writing.

1) Haven't been getting protein in.
2) Haven't been getting in any activity.
3) Been having Starbuck's too often.
4) Not tracking my food intake.
5) Not drinking enough water.
6) Snacking at night.
7) Haven't been blogging or reading all the success stories

Wow, and I wonder how I'm not losing weight...........Please tell me I'm not the only one who has gone through a hiatus like this. I can't let all my hard work go down the drain now! I'm going to make small goals to get back on track. First 2 goals for this week: Get protein in and stop snacking at night.

Can you believe I graduate next month?!? I've been totally dedicated to my studies and have left "me" get into a slump. I'm very frustrated.

Any good ideas for stopping the night-time munchies? I thought maybe I could drink a protein drink or something later in the evening. What works for you guys?

The words I will tell myself:

  1. I am only 2 days post op but my insurance company did require a 6 month diet before hand and I managed to lose and keep off 35lbs during that time. One thing that helped me with my snacking was changing my routine, what are you doing when you snack? Watching TV? Blogging? If you are snacking because you need something to do with your hands, then give your hands something to do!

Also when I started tracking EVERYTHING that went in my mouth, good or bad, a lot of the other nasty habits were cut in half and eventually disappeared. This is something you have to make yourself do, but by being honest with yourself in tracking you now have something concrete that helps you see exactly where you are padding your calories.

Good luck on getting this thing turned around, don't be too hard on yourself. You are dedicated enough to go to school and finish that, just use that same strength and focus a little more on yourself.

  2. Snacking is definitely a downfall... and the band doesnt help with it. That is your part of the lapband deal! Make of list of things you could do instead of snacking - go for a walk, blog, paint your nails, fold laundry, dust - whatever it takes to get you out of the kitchen. I had to definitely get ahold of my snacking issues. And dont fret, we all go through slumps - just pick yourself back up and get yourself back on track! You can do it!!

  3. I agree with the others...usually night time snacking isn't caused by real hunger...usually caused by boredom or habit or whatever. If you're actually hunger, try to push your dinner time to a little later. If you're bored, change up your routine and try to find something else to do...like read blogs. LOL :)
